The Very Hungry Katyapillar

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle has been a favorite around here for quite some time. Between the absurd number of books we own, and the high number of trips to the library we make, we don’t read it that often. But it is much loved! The above photo is from the fair. We happen to have a caterpillar tunnel at home, and it has seen much use lately. A couple weeks ago Katya sat up with it around her waist and said, “I’m very hungry!” After I fed her a number of kinds of real food, she told me, “I’m a big fat caterpillar!” Metamorphasis also occurs weekly if not more often. She likes to use the pillows on the bed to fashion a cocoon. Many and various readings are to be found behind the links below:

In other random snippets of news, Katya found her long-lost baby pacifier and has been lovingly offering me some “fire sucker” from time to time. Also, she has been watching Dumbo every day. When I asked her why she loved it so much, she pointed out that it featured babies and tents. What toddler doesn’t love babies and tents? Seriously. And what parent doesn’t LOVE lyrics like, “We work all day, we work all night, we never learned to read or write. We’re happy-hearted ROUSTABOUTS!” We have been reading many many circus-themed books. Katya also continues to enjoy books about doctors. I guess it makes sense since we talk about medical stuff All The Time. Grandpa had his big jaw surgery almost a month ago and things have not really calmed down yet.
