Hunter, almost 9 mos

August 31st, 2013

Dear Hunter,

In the last week or so you figured out how to crawl, open a cloth diaper with Velcro closures, and also you started eating so much you started having big kid poops.

How could that possibly go wrong?!?

Today Dad helped you stand up holding the side of your play pen. You’re pretty proud of yourself. For at least a week now, probably more, you’ve been standing and sitting with just hands to steady you. Your legs are very wobbly!

You also had you first bath in the baby bathtub instead of sink, and you loved it! Dad’s been holding you over the pool water and letting you dip your feet in a lot, and I did that at the ENC in the stream this week, so you’re more comfortable with water now.

You also had your first food in the high chair this week. Max stole the mesh feeder bag containing banana and grapes and WOULD NOT LET GO. I could not pry his jaws open, and after Dad did, when I was dragging Max outside, he bit my pants! I washed it really well and then filled it with the egg yolk filling from deviled eggs. You love it.

We have a CRAWLER!

Right after 8 1/2 mos Hunter I put you on the diaper change mattress I keep on the bathroom floor for when I need to use it and
you just kind of left.

Ack!

You still have your belly on the ground but you can move, move, move. Almost completely forward. You may have backed yourself into a corner of the office yesterday.

And here you just got your fourth tooth last week too. You ground your teeth for a few days. More of a click, click click.

You may think it is funny to bite me right now. Ah, baby jokes.

You offered grandma the celery you were gnawing on one night. You are a very generous little person.

Daddy laughed pretty hard because he heard you tell me off yesterday for the first time when I had you in a back carry for too long. You are so mellow that everyone is shocked when you get mad.

Yesterday was also probably your first long experience sitting in the grass. You very happily stroked blades of grass, and even more so, shredded dry leaves for at least 20 minutes. There were some grunts and yells of glee.

Love,

Mom

Happy 8 month birthday baby!

You are getting so big. Over 16 pounds! You have miles of neck compared to some babies we know. You just sat up in the shopping cart for the first time last week. You played with your first toy car. You can sit up better and safer. You started wriggling out of the shower chair.

You love these songs that Katya and I sing in the car when you get upset:
Twinkle Twinkle Little Baby
Baa Baa Black Sheep have you any wool
Baa Baa Black Sheep have you any cars
Baa Baa Black Sheep have you any airplanes
Baa Baa Black Sheep have you any underpants
The Owl and the Pussycat

Last week we had a little communication problem and nobody paid attention to you when you were crying. You and Katya both got hysterical and hyperventilate-y. One of you would calm and then the other would scream and set you off again. I had only seen Muppets do this before. We stayed home.

Hunty! A few days ago you waved for the first time, at Uncle Andy! A few times! I we don’t usually do all that cutesy waving stuff!
