First Jokes and Inventions
Neither of these are really likely the *first*, but the first I can think of, or that really stood out, and both from this week.
This morning I was sleeping in and heard Bill say that they could go downstairs. Katya said, “Mama will go in the closet.” Bill repeated, “Mama will go in the closet?” Katya then said (not laughed), “Ha ha ha.”
Also, Katya thought of this snacking convenience solution one day with absolutely no prompting or adult involvement, save my getting her the tape when she asked:
The Christmas Season Commences
Katya is very excited about the Christmas lights on local businesses. Today in the car she asked me if I stay up all night on Christmas. Turns out she thought the Little Einsteins did, and I might need to, to deliver presents. Further discussion involved a brief explanation of how we are Jewish and Grandma is Christian and that is OK. Katya then told me that my car is Christian. Why? “Because it’s a car.”

Quote: “You have to have a fork behind your back to imagine it.”
Independent play favorites: reading long books alone, making toy playgrounds/beds/ballet classes
Favorite books: Magic School Bus, anything about mermaids
Favorite adjective: “glow-in-the-dark” (as in sheets, room at the museum, and dress she wants to make)
Dislikes: when “it is too dark to sleep,” being told she is something else than a girl or Katya (like a ballerina or whatever she is dressed as), errands, snot, when anyone calls Sprouts market Sprouts instead of Bubbles
Favorite foods: vanilla goat yogurt, turkey jerky, turkey lunch meat (yes we have been pushing protein!), raspberries, homemade muffins, spicy noodle sauce, dried mango, nondairy ice cream (not eating that so much right now though)
Biggest desire: to have a mermaid tail she can swim in

Here’s the Noyes family at Boo at the Zoo dressed up as 4/5 of the Little Einsteins.
Katya was totally gung ho on trick-or-treating this year, being the first to run up and knock on doors. There has been much discussion of how her favorite candy is Smarties. (Current difficulty with s blends means that “sm” is pronounced like an f.)
